    Why use Kellogg's® Rice Krispies®?

As the first crisped rice cereal, Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® has been bringing families together in the kitchen for over 80 years.

To experience the timeless flavor, make your Rice Krispies Treats® squares with the original Rice Krispies® brand cereal.

    Where to buy

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using 1/4-cup measuring cup coated with cooking spray divide warm cereal mixture into 24 portions. Using buttered hands shape each portion into ball. Insert lollipop stick into each. Place on wax-paper-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate about 10 minutes or until firm.

4. In microwave-safe bowl combine chocolate morsels and oil. Microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until smooth, stirring every 30 seconds. Dip each ball into chocolate, allowing excess to drip off. Return to wax-paper-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for 5 to 10 minutes more or until chocolate is almost set. Decorate with candy corn for tail feathers and beak, gently pressing candy into chocolate and cereal mixture. Press in white candies for eyes. Let stand until firm.

MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS: In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 through 4 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

Note:
For best results, use fresh marshmallows.

Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.

Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container.

I'm a huge fan of the cake pop craze. So when I saw these Turkey Pop Treats, I knew I wanted to try making them with my girls during their Thanksgiving break. They look so cute! We can't wait to get started. And we can't wait to gobble them up, either.

1. I tried the gluten-free rice krispies on this the turkey pop treats they seem to stay together better than the regular rice krispies do. was very good fun idea for your children to help with.

2. DO NOT MAKE THESE!!!! They may look cute and easy. But there is a reason they are not shown on the stick....they won't stay on the stick. Not to mention that the two pictured are probably the only two that the candy stayed on. What a huge waste of time, money, and food. A HUGE disappointment!

3. I wish I would have read the reviews before I wasted the money buying the supplies for these. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! I did not use the sticks because I wanted something that would just sit on the plate. However, as soon as you get them all rolled into tukeys and coat them with chocolate, you can barely get the candies to stick into them. If by chance you get a candy stuck into it without smashing the candy to smithereens, it will fall out within a minute. My daughter, who helps with recipes all the time, was frustrated in minutes and finally left to go play in her room. Not a family friendly recipe, and the ones that did come out halfway aren't even really very pretty. I did use the regular...maybe they need to go back and indicate that it only work with the gluten-free.

4. To those who complain that they fall of the stick, you can always try dipping the lollipop stick in the melted chocolate before inserting in the rice krispie ball. I know with cake pop experience, it helps the stick adhere to the pop. But rice krispies can be heavy so they may be just too heavy for the stick. You could always use less. Also, just an option, you can always serve them with the stick on the top of the turkey, so the turkey rests on the plate. Really these treats are about looks, not practicality.

5. First let your treats really set before dipping in chocolate.....we waited at least 20 minutes. Then after dipping, put treats in the freezer for about 10 minutes. This makes decorating easier.

8. Instead of using the 1/4 cup and then forming the turkey body with buttered hands, much easier to use an ice cream scoop with a tad of cooking spray and just keep your hands wet with water. The turkey bodies come out perfect with no mess!

9. Do not try!! I bought gluten free cereal and all the other ingredients... WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, and CALORIES! The chocolate doesn't harden so the candy just keeps falling down, they are messy, my son helped me shape the treats but they were HOT! I am so disappointed, I gave up after dipping about 4 of them in chocolate (and yes I waited for the treats to completely cool). I am so discouraged and disappointed. Please take my advice and don't try this with your kids! :(

10. "Turkey Pop Treats" are anything but a treat! Seeing these critters in a magazine they looked so cute I decided to make them for my grandchildren to have at their dinner places on Thanksgiving. As a home economist I question the kitchen testing of this recipe. The heavy weight of the candy corn could not be supported by the chocolate even if waiting until somewhat set or laying it flat. The only thing that saved this project from complete disaster was to use royal icing(after the chocolate had solidified) to "glue" the feathers, eyes and bill. It was most disappointing and would never do again.

12. After my first three turkeys kept falling apart, I looked at the reviews. I learned to pack them very tightly to keep them from falling apart. I made the bottom flat, and then used a paint brush to paint on the melted chocolate. Poked in the middle back "feather" first and then the two that go on each side of the middle one, I poked in at the same time. Cut the white part off the candy corn to use for the eyes, and the yellow part I cut off and used for nose area. They turned out pretty nice, I thought. (However, if I had not read through all the reviews I would have just given up, I think, and would have just resorted to pressing them into a pan for the all time favorites... Rice Krispie Treats!)

13. I will be getting together with family on Thanksgiving day and we are going to be making the Turkey pops. I can not wait to work on them.......they look great and it is one treat that my grandson can eat since it has not milk products in them. (I am substituting Carob chips for the Milk chocolate chips). I know that we will love them

14. Do not bother with these! They are so cute in theory but will not stay together. Candy falls off and they fall off the sticks. We ended up with blobs of rice krispie treats with candy corn and chocolate in muffin tins.

16. Epic Fail. Prior to starting, I involved my husband in our mission for the perfect turkey pop by sending him to the garage to drill me a stand to place all of my lovely pops on. In the meantime I stuffed and packed down my treats in an old foam 18 ct. egg carton, i mean really packed them in there., they never got hard enough, i even placed them in the fridge, i think that was the first problem, an hour later I began the grueling process. the melted chocolate made it too sweet in my opinion. i was never able to find candy corn in our grocery stores so i instead used circle pretzels for the wings, smooched in the rear of the ball., they looked great, but like everyone else nothing ever stuck. by the time we arrived at the party all but two of the turkeys had slid to the base of the pop stand my husband put so much effort on thanksgiving day. :( the few that did get eaten were good though, the salty pretzel, white chocolate and rice krispie made for a good treat... will not be making these again :(

17. DO NOT MAKE THESE! They were very time consuming. Used cooking spray on our hands not butter to help mold them. The chocolate had to sit for several hours to be sturdy enough for the candy corms (which we put in the refrigerator to get cold) to stay in. The sticks do not work well. This was so cute in the picture but so not worth the hassle. It frustrated my daughter (6 1/2) that they were so involved.

18. @katherine, IL : Great tip! I'm not into any of the gluten free things, or even diet/nutrition @ all really (except that my daughter's healthy!) but it's nice to know that it might be a better way of making them stick together going that way! Thnx 4 sharing girl! :D

19. After a lot of headaches, and a huge mess, these actually turned out really cute. Some tips I wish I knew in advance. First, when you roll them in chocolate make sure you press down a little to have a definite flat bottom. Then when you dip them, make sure you remember where the flat bottom was to set them back down. Make sure they are really hard, or they will break apart when you add the candy corn feathers. Dip the ball first, I did 4 to 6 at a time. Then do not lift them back up and try to decorate in your hand. That was my big mistake, and why I think they fell apart. Push the middle feather down first, then put the two side ones in at the same time. Also, cut the candy corns for the nose. Your really only need a small piece for the beak. I didn't use the sticks either. They took a really long time for the chocolate to harden. Overnight in my case. They are also really rich. Next time I may try it with circle melting chocolate to make it less sweet. My other recommendation is that this is an adult project, or much older kids. Very messy at times and could be frustrating for young kids.
